Public Schools are not the top of Gov. Sanford's list since he boys go to a private school and so does all of his lowcountry friends children. He should take the money or leave the office as Gov. It is obvious that he is truely not for the people of South Carolina.

This young lady is certainly a leader. I thank her for standing up for her belief in education for all people. She is exemplary of the quality of student that SC can produce with very little resources. Imagine what she and the other children world be like if they had the resources!

South Carolina really need the money, we are at a real critical time right and the Governor is trying to make it worst for us, just because he is trying to prove a point, if Bush was still in office he would take the money, he's really making himself look like a racist, the question is, is it who the president? is that the reason he will not accept the money, he needs to think about the people in this state and stop thinking about himself he dont live here alone

How is it that this great state of South Carolina is so behind the times when it comes to education? We must appropriately fund our schools in order to achieve long-term social success. Only with an educated population will we continue to grow and prosper. Education must be free and made available to all. To be effective, schools must be appropriately funded with well-trained staff. Not funding our schools is selfish, no matter how you look at it. Put politics aside and do the right thing.

It's time to leave politics behind. Your pride may hurt, but you know what, it's the right thing to do. Govenor Sanford, you will be glad you excepted this stimulus package when you're sincerely on your knees testifying to the Holy one. You were appointed govenor for a reason. Think about it...
You and President Oboma do have something in common; both of you were chosen for a reason.

The State of South Carolina can not afford to get left behind again, again and again. Education is the key to prosperity, not suppression. People want hope and where there is no hope, there is no future. Every human being deserves the opportunity to enjoy a slice of the American pie, not just a handful of people. Why is this country and South Carolina in particular, so afraid of educating people. We all know that means when you educate them, you have to pay them better and they could very well end up being your neighbor.

I moved to SC two years ago and I find it shameful to be the resident of a state that is unwilling to correct schools like Ty's. Gov. Sanford is holding back the progress of this state and making us look like we are not in step with the 20th century. We are losing a great opportunity to become a leader in education and green technology. There is a lot of potential for progress for SC and refusing help is shortsighted and ignorant!! We are fulfilling the old stereotype of the south being backward.

Higher Ed is Important but we can't keep feeding colleges (profit) tuition that go up every year becuz they kno they (profitable colleges) can get lottery money. I dont play and did not vote for it. SC voters were hoaks and are everyday they play. What can we do to make that money GO TO PUBLIC EDUCATION?

No one in South Carolina should be willing to accept a "minimally adequate" education for our children and I am shocked that we are having this fight.

Those who buy into the minimally adequate education are putting our country at risk of falling even further behind other countries.

We can not stay ahead of other countries simply by wanting to be ahead. The only way to do that is to give our children the absolute best education possible. They will never have that as long as we continually give them a "minimally adequate" education.

Shame on all of you who are holding us back.
