SCASA Board votes to support high quality education in South Carolina |
|
From SCASA's Insight newsletter Join state superintendent of education Jim Rex, the SCASA Board and other education supporters in South Carolina by signing a petition that will encourage legislators to delete the phrase “minimally adequate” from the state’s constitution and replace it with “high quality.” The “Goodbye Minimally Adequate” campaign is trying to: - Set a higher marker for funding debates in the future
- Create a higher standard of expectations for public education for everyone
- Send a message to those considering the teaching profession that they will be entering a system that asks them to give their best and entering an environment that promotes excellence, not mediocrity
- And establishes a high quality education system that represents the highest values of South Carolinians.
For more information and to sign the petition, visit www.goodbyeminimallyadequate.com. Organizer Bud Ferillo and his supporters are attempting to accumulate 1 million signatures by 2010. All South Carolinians are eligible to sign the petition, not just registered voters, so get your students involved, too.
